“Yes, it’s work, but to Ben it’s also mixing in his very strong interests and hobbies in taking care of vehicles,” said Sophia.
With two young children, Ben and Sophia knew that some of their responsibilities may shift a bit towards Sophia as their business got up and running, but it has not been as challenging as they thought it would be.
“I’m always looking forward to spending time at the shop,” said Ben. “I really haven’t had that feeling in a corporate setting for a very long time.”
A typical start to the day for Ben includes:
- Turning on the lights and putting his things away.
- Turning on the digital posters in his showroom.
- Logging in to the computer and seeing what’s on the schedule for the day.
- Opening the door and turning on the open sign.
Ben’s life has been centered around cars ever since he was a teenager.
“I always had a third car that I always was working on or having fun with,” he said. “A lot of the services I’d get done to it, we do here at Ziebart.”
As a franchise owner, Ben has a hand in “a little bit of everything,” including the advertising and daily operations of his store, and even performing some of the services on customers’ vehicles.
“Whatever we need on a daily basis, I can step in and do,” said Ben.
Ben and his wife, Sophia, complement each other well in running their Ziebart store.
“I serve as the primary liaison on the marketing communications front,” said Sophia. “We’ve been lucky to have all the support from corporate.”
